MUSICAL SENSE AND VARIETY

Music creates an atmosphere of creative presence in dance. It is human experience made into sound. A quote from John O'donohue, in the book eternal echoes (exploring the hunger to belong); retells that "Music is perhaps the most divine of all art forms in that it creates an active, living and moving form that takes us for a while into another world. He further explains that we in general neglect the nourishment of music. Encouraging you to critically look at your music.

Do you truly listen to music? Through aspects like; the use of instruments, vocals and overall expression. What do you listen to? Is the music that you hear too small for your growing soul? We are surrounded by music; yet what are we discovering about ourselves and the lives of others? There is an embrace of heart through the presence of music. It is an intimate conversation with your soul and your longing to feel deeply.

Apart of our listening in this time is the beautiful threads of music globally; and its array of genres/ sub genres of music. Whilst I'm alluding to the quality of music and the variety of such in our lives. My point here is further emphasis the creative capacity it holds for dancers and wellbeing. Through our own listening choices and our ability to deeply feel. Creating space to encapsulate our story and extension of skill.

As a dancer myself, I listen and interpret music in my own unique way. My individual preferences and my creative relationship with; style, technique, intention and feeling. My sense of diversity in dance is consequently sourced from my variety of music and exposure. The more awareness we have in the variety of sound, the more range with have to explore its ability to move us; physically, mentally and spiritually.

Expanding your horizons in art, culture of music is a creative act. It is also apart of our desire and connection to the greater.

So get curious about the simple pleasures that grandly hold the resonance of life's most beautiful creations. Love and adore music... play it loud, softly and let it carry you through life. May it both heal and expand your story by the creative acts of others. Music is impact. Music matters. Music is soul in sound.
